Help for today. Hope for tomorrow Catholic Charities St. Anthony Family Shelter
Jesus said that we should love one another. He said that if we have two coats we should share with those who have none. He said that we should feed the hungry, take care of the sick, and clothe the poor. And he did more than just teach these things — he lived them.
At Catholic Charities St. Anthony Family Shelter, we try to put these teachings of Jesus into practice. With your help, we give families a place to go when they have no place else, and we help them get back on their feet so they can overcome difficult circumstances and move on with life. By choosing to give out of our abundance and getting by with less so that others can live, we bring Christ’s message to his children.
Join us, Friday, April 29 at the Beech Activity Center as we celebrate the work of St. Anthony Family Shelter with special guest performer Elisabeth von Trapp. Tickets are $100 and tables of 8 are available for $800. Register by clicking the link above or by calling 316-264-8344 ext. 1221 today.
Catholic Charities St. Anthony Family Shelter provides a clean, safe place where
families can stay together, eat together and play together while parents receive
training and counseling to help get them back on their feet.
A Family Story:
Stephanie and Darren had their problems, but they took care of their family only needing occasional help. They had the support of family and never thought they would need a shelter.
Then in 2008, Darren was laid off. With the economy of their Georgia community struggling, Stephanie’s uncle looked into a job for Darren in Wichita. Unsure where else to turn, the family sold all of their furnishings — except their washer and dryer — and moved. But the promised job didn’t pan out. The harsh economic conditions had begun to affect the Wichita economy, as well. The family had moved half way across the country for work and now that work was not there.
